In 1989, Richard Shapiro started Monument Mortgage Company, operating out of a “home style” office in Framingham, Massachusetts. After working in large lending institutions for over 20 years, Richard realized that both the industry and the consumer would benefit from a smaller, more “agile” business model that could provide a full range of mortgage financing options and superior customer service (something that was lacking in the “big banks”). Richard’s years of experience, complete understanding of the mortgage business, and solid reputation in the industry allowed him access to a range of investors. This immediately provided Monument Mortgage with a vast array of products, at very competitive interest rates. When this competitive advantage was coupled with the personalized customer service that the smaller company could provide, Monument’s business flourished. In 1992, needing more space for our growing business, Monument Mortgage moved its main location to Lexington, Massachusetts.

 

Much has changed since that small office in Framingham. Today, Monument is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and Florida. We have served more than 35,000 clients and have seen more than $10 Billion in closed loans over the past 30 years.  With leading edge mortgage origination and underwriting software, and a dedicated team of experienced professionals, Monument Mortgage continues to ensure that our customers are provided with the mortgage financing that fits their current financial needs.
